Planting beds, tree and shrub placement, mulch and Colorado river rock — designed for your property and installed to last.
A good landscape does two jobs at once: it looks right from the street, and it doesn’t turn into a weekend chore every spring. We design for both.
Whether you’re refreshing tired beds or starting from bare dirt on new construction, we’ll lay out something that fits your house, your light conditions and how much maintenance you actually want to sign up for.
We start by walking it — sun and shade, drainage, sight lines from the street and from inside the house. Plant selection follows from that, not from whatever the nursery had a surplus of. Kansas gets extremes in both directions, so we lean on material that can take it.
Beds get cut with a clean, defined edge that holds its shape. Plants go in at the right depth with the root flare where it belongs. Mulch goes down at proper depth — never volcano-mulched against the trunk, which is a slow way to kill a tree.
We install hardwood mulch, and Colorado river rock where you want something permanent and low-maintenance.
If you want the look without the upkeep, we’ll build around natives and adapted perennials that hold up to Kansas summers on far less water and attention.
Questions
Spring and fall are ideal — milder temperatures let plants establish roots before they face real heat or hard freeze. That said, we install through the season and adjust watering guidance to match.
We handle it. We walk the property, talk through what you want, and lay out a plan that fits the house and the conditions. No separate design fee for straightforward residential work.
Mulch feeds the soil as it breaks down and looks warmer, but needs refreshing roughly annually. Rock is essentially permanent and great for drainage areas and tight spaces, but it doesn’t improve soil. Plenty of properties use both in different spots.
That’s a lot of what we do. Overgrown, weed-choked beds get cleared, re-edged, replanted where needed and re-mulched — usually a dramatic change for a fairly modest cost.
